On 6 November 2026 The Straits Times in Singapore published a story by Yamini Chinnuswamy on EMERGE: New Asian Narratives, the group exhibition the Singapore designer Nathan Yong is taking to Design Miami. The fair runs from 1 to 6 December 2026 in Miami Beach, in the same week as Art Basel Miami Beach.
EMERGE has 11 collectible design pieces made for the fair by 12 designers from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Maria Cristina Didero curates it with Nathan Yong, and the DesignSingapore Council and Enterprise Singapore support it. Among the pieces from outside Singapore, the article picks out a rattan piece by the Indonesian designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo and the Hoàng Sa coffee table by our founder, the architect Truong Quang Vinh, which it likens to classic blue-and-white ceramics.
Vinh is showing two tables from the Hoàng Sa series in Miami: flat white composite tops, painted by hand in blue. The same series is also made in ceramic and in hand-carved wood burnt black.
